TechLine Mfg. Celebrates National Welding Month with Student Tours

Spanish Fort, AL: To celebrate National Welding Month in April, TechLine Mfg. hosted students from the Academy at Fairhope Airport, a part of Baldwin County Public Schools in Alabama, on a tour of its manufacturing facility. Two separate groups made up of mostly high school juniors and seniors who are learning welding or electrical & instrumentation skills at the Academy toured the facility to learn about the company and connect what they are learning in school to careers in manufacturing.

TechLine owner Wendy D’Olive helped lead the group through the facility, sharing his experiences in developing and building the 40-year old business, and explaining the process by which TechLine Mfg. produces electrical & instrumentation support products for industry. The group learned how the company receives raw materials, then cuts, welds, and cleans them to produce electrical & instrumentation supports. They were shown the types of welding methods used at TechLine to produce aluminum, stainless steel, and carbon steel products.

The Academy at the Airport is a joint effort among Baldwin County Public School System (BCBE), Coastal Alabama Community College, and the Fairhope Airport Authority. The Academy offers high school and adult classes in Electrical & Instrumentation, Welding, and Airframe Technology. According to the BCBE website, the Academy “provides critical training needed to supply local business and industry with a skilled workforce.”
